Descendants of John Bobyk The Bobyk Family Tree at the present time goes back to John Bobyk. (Click here to see the descendant tree of John Bobyk) Recently found death certificates for Anastozia and Nicholas Mykola Dubiniewicz reveal lots of information including some of their parents. Anastozia Bobyk married Nicholas Dubiniewicz. Anastozia Bobyk Dubiniewicz would have been my material great grandmother. I have updated the descendants list to reflect some new information given to me by my cousin in Niagara Falls Ontario Canada William Edward Burjoski. I have also used the death certificates and will show some additional documentation that has come into my possession As always, I take full responsibility for errors of commission and omission. Send corrections to james.henderson525@gmail.com. This information is current as of December 26, 2008. I will update as I receive corrections or additions. The death certificate of Mykola Dubiniewicz does as most genealogical documents do, it adds some valuable information but also creates more questions. The Death shows that Nicholas Mykola Dubiniewicz (Click here to see the death certificate) was born on December 24, 1852 in Austria and his father was Jacob Dubiniewicz For now, I will assume that he was born in the part of the Ukraine controlled by Austria at that time. He died on November 21, 1932 in Thorold Ontario Canada. His address at that time of death was 142 Pine Street. My mother remembers that he lived in a small structure behind his son Mike at the above address. His death certificate states that he had been in Canada for 30 years. That would have meant immigration in 1902. This is different than was stated on the death certificate of his wife Anastozia Bobyk Dubiniewicz where it was stated she had been in Canada for 9 years. Since she died 10 years earlier (Click here to see her death certificate), he might have been in Canada 10 years or so before she came over. For now I will leave that mystery for another day. The Dubiniewicz family immigrated to Ft. William Ontario Canada. It was there that Maria (Mary) Dubiniewicz married Jurko (George) Buchowski on February 3, 1913. (Click here to see the marriage certificate). I also have a copy of the Ontario Marriage License issued by Sir John Morison Gibson Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of Ontario. (Click here to see the marriage license). Mary's brother Mike Dubiniewicz went to work for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company in Ft. Williams, Ontario. I have two pieces of evidence that reveal Mike worked for the CPR. (Click here to see a copy of the Henderson's Directory for Fort Williams for 1914) I also have an original employee's pass issued to Mr. and Mrs. M. Dubiniewicz and son and daughter on June 23, 1913 for a rail trip from Ft. Williams to Calgary. (Click here to see a copy of the original employees pass) In both documents Mike is listed as a Fitter's Helper for the CPR. I assume that the son and daughter were Nellie and Joseph. Bernice was not yet born. The next bit of information is the photo showing Anastozia Bobyk Dubiniewicz with her daughter Mary and son-in-law George and her two grandchildren William and Sarah. (Click here to see that picture) As talked about elsewhere on this web site, it is believed the picture was taken in Espanola or Sudbury Ontario Canada. While on a recent trip to Ontario, I visited with Mrs. Olga Belanger who lives in Espanola and whose mother was a Buchowski from the village of Serafyntsi, Ukraine. At least for now I believe that Mrs. Belanger is a relative on the Buchowski side of the family. More research on her mother will have to be done to determine the relationship. Mrs. Belanger is trying to help me get some information from the Roman Catholic Diocese concerning the birth records for four of the eldest Buchowski (Burjoski) children (William, Sarah, Nettie and Peter). Now I would like to turn my attention to my grandmother Mary's sibling Michael Dubiniewicz. The information I have on him came from my cousin Diane Burjoski Berketa. It turns out that she had been copying information given to her by Bernice Dubiniewicz Dale and from another cousin Laurie Burjoski Savage. According to Bernice, Michael was born in the Ukraine in 1884. Michael married Rose Oblinski who was also born in the Ukraine in 1888. (Click here to see the family tree of Michael Dubiniewicz) Michael would be my grand uncle and his children would be my second cousins. At this time we do not know where Nellie and Joseph were born and can only surmise that Bernice was born in Ft. William Ontario Canada. Thanks to Mrs. Lia Nieuwesteeg of Niagara Falls, Ontario for saving a number of Bernice's photos which I now have in my possession. I will be continually going through them as I learn more about the family. I will show a few pictures at this early stage. (Click here to see a picture of Joseph, Nellie, and Bernice at young ages)
